At their May 2012 meeting, North Georgia Mopar Club (NGMC) honored Team Two Horsemen of the Carpocalypse (including our honorary Third Horseman, Paul Chambers of Paul Chambers Mopar Restorations) and the team’s efforts to raise money for two great charities — American Diabetes Association and March of Dimes.  (The fact that the team has a track record of rescuing classic Mopars from fields and backyards and taking them out for the trip of a lifetime may have had something to do with it too…)

Believe it or not, Dodge was *not* the most spectacular vehicle present at the meeting. The slideshow below contains some of the unique Mopars at the meeting that upstaged him.

As many of our fans already know, the BABE Rally means more to Team Two Horsemen of the Carpocalypse than just hours of agonizing labor prepping a car, a 16-hour white-knuckled drive to the start line and five long days of driving through southern heat in ridiculous costumes followed by marathon car repair sessions by night. Why do we do this? Well, because it is fun! But more importantly, we do it for a good cause — helping to raise money for American Diabetes Association and March of Dimes.

In the prior two years of the BABE Rally, the team raised over $5,000 for these two important charities thanks to pledges from our families, friends, fans and a small number of especially generous corporate sponsors. We have set a modest target this year of raising an additional $2,000 but hope to beat that by bringing on additional corporate sponsors. Past corporate sponsors Allpar.com, North Georgia Mopar Club, Paul Chambers MOPAR Restorations and z-Alt Muscle Car Oil graciously have returned for 2012, and we look forward to adding some new corporate sponsors to their distinguished ranks this year.

We can offer sponsor companies great visibility on our car, on our website and in the media. Corporate sponsors also receive the tax deduction for the amount they choose to donate as the donations are made directly to the charities. But most of all, we can offer our corporate sponsors hours and hours of warm fuzzy feelings and top-notch entertainment as they watch our team’s exploits through multiple photo and video updates each and every day of the 2012 BABE Rally.

Please review the sponsorship options outlined below and, if you would like to sponsor Team Two Horsemen of the Carpocalypse in the the 2012 BABE Rally, use the Contact tab at the top of our webpage (www.thotc.com) to let the team know.

Thank you for your support, and we look forward to doing your company proud on the road!

The fine print: Corporate sponsors will need to provide high-resolution images (preferably .PNG files and at least 300dpi in the size selected) of their logo decal no later than close of business on May 24 in order for their logo to appear on the car in their selected size. Logos for decals received later will be placed on the car in the best available size and quality before the beginning of the Rally on June 4th. Corporate sponsors should make their donations directly to American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes or both in the amounts agreed no later than close of business on June 4th, 2012. Please note that, once donations are made, they cannot be refunded even in the event the team is unable to start or complete the Rally. As such, sponsors may wish to wait until June 4th to make their donations to ensure the team and car have at least reached the starting line.

Working on the theory that the best way to swim is simply to dive into the deep end of the pool (with a one-ton weight wrapped around your ankles), Crash and Burn will be taking freshly rescued Dodge on a little drive this weekend… the 1,000 miles from Crash’s pad in Atlanta to Burn’s stately home outside of Albany, New York.  This might not seem particularly remarkable (or foolhardy) until one considers that Dodge, who say behind a barn for fifteen years, was restored to the road only yesterday and has a grand total of about fifty miles on his newly-reset clock. The team will leave sometime on Sunday and (hopefully) arrive sometime on Monday.

Want to ride along with Crash, Burn and Dodge as they cover two thirds the distance of the BABE Rally itself?  Well,  you can, in a manner of speaking!

The team will be posting regular updates (WordPress and the gods of the ether permitting) and wherever possible geotagging all our update posts and videos. One important caveat…  The geotagging mechanism has a margin of error, so please don’t assume the team is in the massage parlor popping up as the current location for a post.  The team is at the gas station across the street.  Really. Promise. Scout’s honor.

Visit www.thotc.com to check up on the team’s location and see update posts from the road.

The Dart is dead, long live the Dart!  In a classic “frying pan into the fire” move,  THOTC has replaced its short-lived 1964 NASDart — rescued from sitting five years in a field in Alabama — with Dodge, a 1969 Dodge Dart Custom that sat behind a barn in middle Georgia for *fifteen* years.

After more than sixty hours of effort by Crash,  Burn,  honorary Third Horseman Paul Chambers, and a small army of volunteers, Dodge runs, drives and mostly stops.  Stay tuned to learn more about Dodge and the many,  many preparations for his upcoming dash for glory in the 2012 BABE Rally!
